The Houghton Project
Kirkland purchased the Houghton Village site with your tax dollars for $14 million. Now it’s floating the idea of risking even more taxpayer money on a redevelopment that ignores community input. Even developers have pointed out many red flags: from zoning conflicts to environmental hazards. Which is why no developer has even submitted a proposal as of the deadline. Instead of listening to the voice of experience and expertise the City is choosing a “fake it until you make it” gamble with your tax dollars. Tell the council that Kirkland is not their piggy bank and to focus on what local government is meant to do: serve residents.
