HB 2266 MAKES NO SENSE FOR KIRKLAND.
AND YET IT CONTINUES TO MAKE ITS WAY INTO LAW.
HB 2266 or “No Pay, No Say in what goes on in your community” continues to advance through the state legislature.
Kirkland currently has one low-barrier PSH facility next to multiple schools and is planning for 20+ more under the 2044 Comprehensive Plan. For each of these 20+ facilities Kirkland residents would have to donate the land or take money from the General Fund to even have a say about any impacts to the surrounding community. How much will it cost you as a Kirkland resident to have even the most basic protections in place for your neighborhood?
Our elected local officials should protect local authority and community accountability — not bow to the whim of the legislature in Olympia. Now is the time to be heard.
