HB 2266 MAKES NO SENSE FOR KIRKLAND.

IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR ANYONE.

HB 2266 is moving through the state legislature. As drafted, would abolish Good Neighbor Agreements tied to future permanent supportive housing unless the residents of Kirkland paid even more monies in the form of donating the land or giving money for the facility. In essence: No Pay, No Say in what goes on in your community.

Kirkland currently has one low-barrier PSH facility next to multiple schools and is planning for 20+ more under the 2044 Comprehensive Plan.

Our elected officials should protect local authority and community accountability — not bow to the whim of the legislature. This bill needs to be drastically changed before it moves forward.
